I had an analytical lab partner invite me to her birthday party, where I first encountered Alison. We didn't talk much, but we both acknowledged that we were studying chemical engineering and awkwardly made small talk. It wasn't until later that we realized that we were in the same polymer engineering class and started sharing notes. I asked her on a date and here we are!

Alison's Perspective

It was October 9, 2021. We had a mutual friend invite the both of us to her birthday party. We both attended and officially met at our friend's apartment, made small talk, then parted ways. Weeks later, I discovered that we were taking Intro to Polymer Engineering together. I had skipped class one day and decided to ask Nick for his notes. After many conversations and study sessions, Nick asked me to go on a coffee date to which I happily accepted. We started dating shortly after and stayed together for 4.5 years.

Nick's Perspective

It all started as an idea as a beach proposal, at sunset and nobody around. I didn't know the area in Mexico, so I asked a local photographer for recommendations. I wanted to pick a certain location, but he said it would be impossible to get to without special permission. Long story short, she said yes and it definitely was a memory we won't forget.

Alison's Perspective

It was February 19, 2026 when we were in Tulum, Mexico. Nick told me that he had dinner reservations for the two of us in the city. He drove us down to a bar on Ahau Beach where we grabbed a very quick drink. Nick then guided me down to the beach for a "sunset walk," stopped in a pile of dead seaweed, and proceeded to take a knee. He pulled out the engagement ring and I immediately said, "Yes!"
